Between continuous and uniformly continuous functions on R n ∗

چکیده
We study classes of continuous functions on R that can be approximated in various degree by uniformly continuous ones (uniformly approachable functions). It was proved in [BDP1] that no polynomial function can distinguish between them. We construct examples that distinguish these classes (answering a question from [BDP1]) and we offer appropriate forms of uniform approachability that enable us to obtain a general theorem on coincidence in the class of all continuous functions.

Let $L$ be a completely regular frame and $mathcal{R}L$ be the ring of real-valued continuous functions on $L$. We consider the set $$mathcal{R}_{infty}L = {varphi in mathcal{R} L : uparrow varphi( dfrac{-1}{n}, dfrac{1}{n}) mbox{ is a compact frame for any $n in mathbb{N}$}}.$$ Suppose that $C_{infty} (X)$ is the family of all functions $f in C(X)$ for which the set ${x in X: |f(x)|geq dfrac{1...
متن کاملThe ring of real-continuous functions on a topoframe
A topoframe, denoted by $L_{ tau}$, is a pair $(L, tau)$ consisting of a frame $L$ and a subframe $ tau $ all of whose elements are complementary elements in $L$. In this paper, we define and study the notions of a $tau $-real-continuous function on a frame $L$ and the set of real continuous functions $mathcal{R}L_tau $ as an $f$-ring. We show that $mathcal{R}L_{ tau}$ is actually a generali...

for all f ∈ Cb(R ) and λ is continuous in the sense that if {fj} ∞ j=1 is a sequence of bounded continuous functions on R which is uniformly bounded and converges uniformly on compact subsets of R to a bounded continuous function f , then {λ(fj)} ∞ j=1 converges to λ(f). If f is any bounded continuous function on R, then there is a sequence {fj} ∞ j=1 of continuous functions on R n such that ea...
متن کاملPointfree topology version of image of real-valued continuous functions
Let $ { mathcal{R}} L$ be the ring of real-valued continuous functions on a frame $L$ as the pointfree version of $C(X)$, the ring of all real-valued continuous functions on a topological space $X$. Since $C_c(X)$ is the largest subring of $C(X)$ whose elements have countable image, this motivates us to present the pointfree version of $C_c(X).$The main aim of this paper is to present t...
متن کاملFractal Dimension of Graphs of Typical Continuous Functions on Manifolds
If M is a compact Riemannian manifold then we show that for typical continuous function defined on M, the upper box dimension of graph(f) is as big as possible and the lower box dimension of graph(f) is as small as possible.
